Snow Day

Woke up to lots of snow today. And also with a bit of a cold! I'm normally not too excited about snow, but I'm so prepared this year with real winter boots and a nice warm coat! Can't wait to wear them!

Weekend Purchases

So I entered the mall this past Black Friday with the intention of starting Christmas shopping, but as you can see that didn't quite pan out!

I picked up this blazer by Material Girl via The Bay because it was on clearance + an extra 25% off! Normally I wouldn't be attracted to "cute" bows, but somehow my little sister has me liking them now. I did remove the puffy shoulder pads, but still not sure about the pointy shoulders and the length (because I'm so short). What do you think?

The only other item I picked up was a sweet little sleeveless blouse from Jacob; very tuxedo-esque. I will share with you soon. And remember this sweet sweater? I scored a similar one yesterday on clearance via Old Navy. Unfortunately the grey was not my size, so I settled for one in black.

It's more of a knit sweater than the one from the photo, but is well fitted and priced right. I'm excited to wear it with a skirt!

Biker Jacket + Friday

Sometimes I purchase a new jacket and get into this looong phase of wearing that same jacket over and over. But the other day I remembered the biker jacket I bought (last year?) and was re-inspired to take it out of the closet. Like almost every jacket I find, the sleeves are about 3in or so too long, but nothing that can't be dealt with. I think I'll be trying to give this some wear before the real snow hits!

I did head out for some Canadian-style Black Friday sales today. Did you find any amazing deals?

Let's Talk Shoes...

This would seriously be my shoe closet if it weren't for my teeny tiny feet! I come across a lot of petite ladies, but I envy the fact that they have average sized feet. I can sometimes strategically fit into a size 5 shoe, depending on make, but otherwise my feet are like a size 2. Sadness, right?

The only solution I've found is this site. They have lovely heels but not so lovely prices. I wish there were cheaper alternatives. I've been leaning on kids' shoes lately for ballet flats and such, but would love to have a local shoe provider for teeny tiny heels!

Ariah at 7 Months!

I didn't think it was possible for my little niece to get any cuter, but she has! She's super energetic now with her kicky feet (she loves those feet by the way) and she also loves her baby food. I can't believe she'll be a year old in no time!

First Snowfall + Friday

So I was walking along the sidewalk whilst shopping along with a friend last week and I noticed something blowing around my head...

Me: "What's this white stuff?!?"
Me: (DUH) "Is it SNOWING???"

It obviously was (haha). Happy weekending friends!

Motivation

I'm trying to get motivated for the good ol' job search, so the first thing I really needed to do was organize my desk. I find I'm much less motivated to do real work with the laptop on the couch and the t.v. on, so I had to clean up the work space.

You can't see it, but there was even more crud behind the pile of clothing... I have a really bad habit of not hanging/folding clothes back to where they belong.

Okay, so here we go! Time to go crazy applying to jobs galore!

Any tips / good advice for the unemployed? :)

R's Birthday

Yesterday was R's birthday and we celebrated with a nice steak dinner at the end of the day. He loved his gift (some SmartWool pieces that he really wanted) and the day wasn't as perfect as I would have wanted, but he enjoyed it and was happily surprised by the gift! Thanks for the birthday wishes for him!

Petite Friday

It's been mighty warm here, considering it's November! So I figured I'd whip out a skirt while I still can. The shirt is actually a girls' top size 10/12; hard to button all the way up, but I love the light jean colour. The sleeves are also too short, but I intended to always roll the sleeves up anyway.

You're probably all wondering, 'why did you even buy this? It sounds like it doesn't even fit!', but it fits well everywhere else and I usually wear it unbuttoned, sleeves rolled, so really it works. My hair looks like I just woke up though. :)

Happy Friday friends! I'm off to shop for R's birthday present today (it's on Monday!) and I hope I find something! Any fun weekend plans?

Snip Snip

Sometimes I like to cut my own hair. Just the bangs that is! And sometimes it turns out better than other times... kinda jagged this time, but... fixable! Yes, I'm crazy like that. One time I cut it too short, so I bobby-pinned it up for a couple weeks, but hey it always grows back! I have to say though, I am usually more satisfied with my own trim than that of the hairdressers'.

I know they say you should really leave this stuff up to the professionals, but every time I've went to trim my bangs, the hairdresser always fails to make it curl to the side. I mentioned this on my last trip to the salon and the hairdresser accepted it as her personal challenge to make it stay! I actually held some faith in her determination, but alas, she hair-sprayed away into failure. Somehow she really believed hairspray would solve the dilemma. I would usually go home and fix it myself. And thank goodness my mom forever owns a set of hair-cutting scissors (which she used to use to give us the usual asian bowl-cut bangs).

So blog friends, have you ever found that perfect hairdresser that knows your hair and can always cut it just the way you like? I have yet to find mine...

Petite Postings

So I realized that I've been dressing really lazy lately. It must be the lack of full-time work, therefore leading to the lazy I-don't-have-work-so-I-can-just-wear-whatever syndrome. Horrible!

I was also contacted by another petite blogger Cynthia recently and she made me realize that I haven't posted much on petite fashion of late and I would love to get back to that! That was really one of the things I had originally wanted to do with this blog and I haven't really taken the time to work on it. So stay tuned for more petite fashion postings!

But for now, here's a new purchase from H&M, a heart-polka-dotted button up collar dress (is there a one-word name for this kind of dress?). I really loved this dress on the hanger, but slightly not as much on me. The length is perfect. Feels very vintage housewife though. What do you think? Is it a go or no?

I have to admit, you'll probably see a lot from H&M. H&M has such a great fit for petite, smaller statured figures. I can't even count the number of items in my closet that are from there!
